OPTINEST is professional software that optimizes the cutting of parts of any shape or boards of any size to the highest level of performance.

Multi-sector applications, includes the option to combine with PolyBoard cabinetry software to control CNC nesting, making it the ideal solution for custom woodworking projects.

Optimization according to your priorities

• Adaptive algorithms make it possible to adjust optimizations to your specific needs.
• If cutting very expensive materials, the priority should be to minimize waste, and if cutting cheaper materials on an expensive CNC, optimize the cutting time of the machine. If you have many parts to place in a template, minimize the calculation time for placing in the template.These are some reasons why OptiNest is truly an industrial software for nesting processing.

Perfect wood grain matching

• This functionality works in conjunction with PolyBoard. In the cabinet design group, group a series of parts, for example door fronts, then apply continuous fiber over them.
• PolyBoard generates a post-processor report that includes this fiber identifier, to be fed into OptiNest so that the parts are placed in sequence, side by side.

Part grouping function

• Parts are associated to create 'virtual parts', which in turn will be used as single parts during the optimization process.

Drilled parts

• OptiNest can handle drilled or perforated parts. Holes are treated as a specific type of tool. The software also recovers material released by cutouts and reuses it to place smaller parts.

Rotation and inversion parameters

• Rotation and flip parameters define the allowed movements, rotations and flips of the part. Our template placement software supports 4 levels of rotation and flip.

Propagation method

• The propagation mode describes the method of placing a single part produced in large quantities, minimizing the scrap rate between parts.
• As a general rule, the piece is grouped with itself, then the grouping is propagated along 2 axes. The larger the panel size, the higher the level of optimization achieved.

Automatic inventory and scrap management

• As an alternative to setting unlimited stock levels for panels, you can specify existing stock levels for all materials and define your own settings for using scrap.
• After each optimization, your inventory will be reduced accordingly, but you can add back those valuable scraps for use in future projects.

Production power by laying in the template

Importing or directly entering parts

• Parts can be imported from DXF files or drawn directly in OptiNest's graphical editor.
• Parts can be drawn in any shape and cut out. To completely minimize waste, our template placement software will also use cutouts to place parts where possible.
• OptiNest is a standalone solution, but users can benefit from seamless integration with our PolyBoard furniture design software. Design in PolyBoard, then all parts are automatically sent to OptiNest.

Export of layout diagrams in template in DXF format

• Template layout diagrams created by OptiNest can be exported in DXF format, for later transfer to your CAD/CAM software and CNC machine.
• These DXF files include a series of layers. Each layer represents the machining operation for a specific tool. It is possible to link the layer names to specific tools so that they are chosen automatically. There is no need to manually select the right tool each time.
• All data is included to cut and machine parts in a single manufacturing process. This is the main benefit of template-layout manufacturing and is perfect for custom projects.

Integration with all CNCs for template placement

• OptiNest generates industry-standard 2D DXF files with all cutting and machining details for each part.
• DXF files are supported by all CNC software, which in turn generates the code to run the machine.
• That's why we're happy to guarantee that our template placement software will work with your CNC.

Processing on both sides of parts

• A CNC specific to nesting is limited to machining one side at a time. You can either turn over entire panels that require machining on both sides, or perform these additional nesting operations by placing the individual pieces back on the machine or on another machine.
• In combination with PolyBoard, both solutions are efficiently managed through a powerful filtering system to separate results as needed.

Automatic label printing

• OptiNest's customizable labels include barcode and touchscreen functionality.
• The labels are printed in the sequence in which the pieces are placed in the template, for easy application.
• Choose the information you need, data fields include but are not limited to:
  • – Name and number of the piece
  • – The material
  • – Dimensions
  • – Piece shape graph
  • – Position and material of the edges

Material, cost and optimization reporting

• View and print a report detailing the results of your optimization.
• Methods include the total stock of material used, material cost, scrap reuse statistics, and the processing load for the job.
• All units of measurement and all currencies are accepted.
