How to choose the right circular format for your business needs
Despite the pandemic that has affected the whole world and the economic and energy crises we are facing, furniture manufacturers are not complaining about a lack of work. Demand for furniture remains very high, and so does demand for woodworking machinery. Every joinery workshop must be equipped with a sliding table panel saw. Without this machine, work would be difficult, if not impossible. Choosing the right saw for your joinery workshop is not that easy.
Before we give you some tips on choosing the right circular for your type of business, we need to understand what a mobile table format circular is.
The circular saw with a movable table is a machine equipped with a powerful motor, which allows the processing of parts of different sizes and various models. In most cases they are equipped with 2 motors, one for the cutting blade, the second for the scorer. The movable table slides to the left of the scoring blade, providing safety to the operator, as he is not positioned in the cutting direction of the blades.
Unlike classic circular saws with a table, the format circular saws have extensions attached to the mobile tables, which allow the formatting of large chipboard sheets. The footprint is generous, and the working space required for such equipment is also quite large, due to the sliding of the mobile table. For example, for a circular saw with a 3200 mm table, we need a working surface of at least 6.4 x 4.5 m, in order to achieve efficient, fast and safe processing.
Important aspects to consider when choosing a formatted circular:
The processed material
The first step in purchasing a circular saw with a movable table is the proper selection of the material that will be processed on it – whether it will be chipboard, MDF or HDF boards, wood, or maybe all of them together. Basically, you need to decide what you will process on this circular. Need always starts from demand, right?
Daily cutting capacity
Always choose the circular saw according to your work capacity. Formatting 5 boards/day is not the same as formatting 20 or more boards daily.
If at 5 plates/day you can work on almost any circular saw model, when formatting 20 plates/day you will definitely notice how important an industrial circular saw is - working much easier, putting in less effort and having optimal results with each cut.
And don't forget to choose the circular that will ensure the correct and qualitative development of your production.
Blade diameter
When producing furniture from chipboard, MDF or HDF, the blade diameter is not very important, because the thickness of a board is not very great. However, if you will use the saw for ripping or cutting solid wood parts, you will want a saw that can take a large-diameter blade, so that cuts can be made in a single pass.
Angle adjustment of the cutting unit
Found on most circular saws, this feature offers flexibility in processing. Whether it is electric or manually operated, angle adjustment should not be missing from a circular saw for formatting.
Mobile table
Depending on the manufacturer and the price range chosen, there are different sliding systems for mobile tables. One of the most used and reliable sliding systems is the one with concave rollers that slide on linear guides made of treated steel. At each end of the mobile table, there should be brushes that clean the linear guides of dust and sawdust.
Mobile table size
For chipboard furniture production, we recommend a sliding table panel saw with a 3200 mm table, so that full boards can be sized, thus avoiding material waste and time lost on additional processing. In this case, two to three operators will be needed to make clean, fast cuts.
In the case of solid wood processing, the length of the table is not so important, but it can be an advantage on some occasions when you will need a long mobile table.
Mobile table extension
A very important element of the circular saw is the extension mounted on the mobile table. Without this extension, you will not be able to format the chipboard sheets, because you will not have support for the sheets. Some circular saws offer the possibility of adjusting the transverse ruler at an angle, so you can cut the sheets in different shapes, to create increasingly daring projects. If necessary, this extension can be dismantled, providing the necessary space for different activities that do not require this option.
It is important to remember that this extension must be part of a robust, solid and well-structured system to ensure precision and safety in cutting.
Parallel ruler and cross ruler
Two features that are often overlooked are the two options that should be standard on any circular saw. These two rulers should be solidly built, easy to handle and set, and allow for quick reading of the dimensions that need to be processed. In the case of the parallel ruler, the larger the cut on the right side, the more we will be able to process various marks.
Exhaust and protection cloth hotels
Exhaust plays an important role in the use of a machine. An efficient suction system can significantly increase the life of a circular saw, as it eliminates the risk of sawdust deposits in hard-to-reach places. There are usually two exhausts, one mounted above the cutting group, and the second at the bottom. The exhaust hood above also plays the role of protection for the operator.
Lubrication system
Some circular saws are equipped with an automatic lubrication system, while those with a manual system must be operated periodically to ensure that the gears work properly when we need them.
Protection and safety systems
Each circular saw must be equipped with physical emergency buttons, positioned within reach of the operators, blade cover opening protection sensors, engine door opening protection sensors and other protective elements. These systems are mandatory for any modern machine, which operates under European standards.
Circular maintenance
Like any machine in your workshop or factory, maintenance plays a very important role in the lifespan of a circular saw. After each working day, the unit should be blown of dust and sawdust. Periodically, the sliding, angle and height adjustment systems of the cutting group and that of the mobile table extension should be checked and lubricated.
Energy efficiency and sustainability
In our times, when energy is increasing considerably, energy efficiency is a topic that we find on the agenda of all entrepreneurs. Improving the performance of your business is also related to reducing costs regarding the energy input required to use a certain machine. DANIBRUM makes considerable efforts to increase the level of energy efficiency of the machines, offering our customers the security of efficient operational growth.
Professional consulting and extensive technical support
When choosing a product that you will use for a long time, knowledgeable and reputable advice will help you make the best decision, according to your needs and resources.
Technical support is also very important. You want to have a problem resolved as quickly as possible, and this can be done by people who know the machines down to the last screw.
With different suppliers and models available on the market, the final purchasing decision must also include after-sales and post-warranty services. A reliable supplier is one that treats you as a partner and not as just another customer.
Study, test and choose the machine that is closest to your ideal.
